Flaming Chocolate Goodness

It has been awhile since a blogworthy snack food travesty caught my eye, so I was happy to find Game Chocolate Ahiiiii. The caption at the top of the bag ominously reads "someone will be sacrificed." It's a simple but sadistically brilliant premise. Each bag contains 12 chocolates, 9 of which are relatively delicious. However, 3 chocolates contain a healthy dose of finely ground chili pepper. Thus each package constitutes a sort of culinary version of Russian Roulette, only with fewer showers of skull and brain fragments.

I'd love to have a big bowl of this candy on the desk in my office; what a great idea! I wish it were possible to introduce this candy simultaneously in a number of different nations. I suspect Americans wouldn't like the idea of being arbitrarily subjected to the chocolate hot shot; control might be a big issue. On the flip side, I also suspect Germans would absolutely love this stuff! Not only do Germans have a certain penchant for masochism, there is also an existentialist under-current to the process which they might find appealing. (I will have to think about other countries)

You have an office now? Whoa...we gotta get caught up guy! I will be happy to send you a box of the mildly painful chocolates ...just email me your snail addy. I'm relatively sure it would get past customs. Heh... the German masochism thing reminded me of this .
"What kind of kinky Christmas spirit is that?"
"It is Germanic in origin."

No shit, I need to give you a call. I have a large office I share with 6-7 other grad students.

You have to love Venture Bros....
You probably already know all about this phenomenon but I found it kind of interesting.
As I recall the actual Knecht Ruprecht/Krampus festivals in Austria actually get pretty violent. In Germany KR is basically something you tell little kids about but in Austria (maybe also switzerland) there are places where groups will dress up in ornate costumes, trundle through town, and basically assault the assembled on-lookers.

ahhh I even found a link...

The Krampus festival is off the freaking hook! Sort of like those Japanese festivals with the huge, wheeled omikoshi where a couple of people get crushed each year. Feel free to call whenever you like. It would probably be most efficient to e-mail me a head's up before so as to avoid "imperial entanglements."
I actually learned the art of embedding links from the book you yourself gave me. Here is a Wikipedia article on the subject. ALL HAIL WIKIPEDIA!
